Alpha Language Centre was established in January 2018 with the primary aim of providing high quality English classes to adults in Aberdeen and the surrounding area. The advent of online teaching, however, means we are now able to teach students anywhere! It has also meant that many private students have stayed with Alpha even after leaving the UK.

We are a small and friendly business committed to giving our students the best possible learning experience. We want students to improve in ability, grow in confidence…and have some fun along the way.

We understand that many students have learned a great deal of grammar and vocabulary but lack the experience and the confidence to speak. That is why our classes are largely communication focused with a strong emphasis on speaking.

Relationship is at the heart of what we do. Julie and Sylvia, our two English teachers, are driven by a genuine desire to build strong teacher-student relationships and serve our students with a smile. In addition to classes, we like to organize social events such as international meals, coffee socials and walks*. This not only gives students the opportunity to use their English in a relaxed setting but also helps us get to know each other better.

And finally, we believe that language classes are an opportunity to learn about the local culture. Both teachers love to share our local knowledge and teach various aspects of British or Scottish culture and share our favourite travel destinations.
